How to care for your Skinz
- Avoid oil-based suntan lotions. Mineral oil, the base of many suntan lotions, is very harmful to the rubber in swimwear elastic. It will also stain some fabrics.
- Hand wash your suit in cold water with a mild soap and then rinse it in fresh water after every use.
- Most brightly colored (neon) fabrics will fade in intense sunlight. You can slow this process down by soaking your suit in a mixture of white vinegar and cold water for 30 minutes (1 tablespoon of white vinegar to a quart of cold water.) Do not line dry your suit in the sun, hang it to dry in the shade.
- Most suits will bleed a little the first few washings, especially reds, fuchsia, etc. This is normal. As the excess dye washes out, the bleeding will stop. It is important to wash your suit separately.
- NEVER… iron, bleach your suit, put it in the dryer, wash it with whites or sit on abrasive objects.
- The stretch vinyl, clearcoats, rubber, leather look, holographic and metallic fabrics are some of the most beautiful suits made, however, they are also the most delicate. The metallic will wear off, and the vinyl will finally delaminate. These fabrics are heat sensitive. Hot tubs and saunas may shorten the life span of the suit. CONTACT STAINING – Make sure to store all your vinyl fabrics separately (place each in a plastic bag). Dyes from fabrics can bleed into the vinyl. Do not store different-colored vinyl together.
Ornament Disclaimer: some of our swimsuits use/feature metal ornaments. Often, they are/involve: rings, triangles and rhinestones. These ornaments are made of high-quality materials to help prevent rusting and tarnishing. They can, however, become EXTREMELY HOT if you are in the sun for too long. Please use caution and discretion when wearing swimsuits with metallic ornaments.
