Rash Guards for men and women

RG3-9409-MWO-Skinzwear-Mens-Swimwear-Rash-Guard-1SKINZ has been making rash guards for men and women since it’s days as a supplier of lycra windsurfing shorts. If you are not familiar with what a rash guard is : Rash Guards were first developed by surfers to eliminate the chafing (caused by wetsuits) under the arms and around the neck. Coincidentally they do provide extra thermal warmth by reducing the flow of water inside the wetsuit (stabilizing warm water). The “Original” design is also used for use as an summer shield against the harmful effects of too much sun and abrasions from your surfboard. Reversed seams for smoothness and dolman sleeves for freedom of movement are components of a quality rash guard.

The use of nylon and lycra creates a garment that is lightweight, quick drying, flexible, durable, naturally antibacterial and water wicking. SKINZ produces several styles of rash guards. The original fits more loosely for above water watersports like windsurfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, wakeboarding and stand up paddle boarding. The slimmer and more snug fitting versions are for surfing, swimming, body surfing and diving. SKINZ is also making microfiber versions to wear as a base layer under snow boarding and skiing wear.

SKINZ make underwear for men

OK. I admit it. Making underwear was my idea. I like the support and feel on lycra shorts under cargo shorts and so I had a few pairs of our original lycra shorts (SH5) made in cotton/lycra. They felt great. Eventually, one of our designers (Angelique) developed a pattern for a seamless front, mens lycra short. We began calling it the (NFS). NO FRONT CENTER SEAM. Finally, comfortable bike length underwear for men.  The most comfortable underwear you will ever wear. No center seam to divide your package. Smooth and seamless front. That style code is the M50. We have since expanded the underwear line to include a boxer (A17) and a really low cut boxer (M61). We now offer all three styles in value 3-packs.

CJ Gibson

'sexy blue micro bikini

It has been my pleasure to work with, and shoot C.J. Gibson. She first appeared in the 2005 SKINZ catalog. Always easy to work with and willing to wear just about anything. She has moved from Florida and now lives in LA. But on occasion she returns here to see her family.

On these visits I can always find items that need her special look. So I call her in. Who can blame me ? One of the nicest models I know.

The very first SKINZ fashion show

skinz fashion

The year was 1987. If you are a Tampa Bay resident then you might remember Penrod’s Palace on Ulmerton Rd. It was the site of the very first SKINZ fashion show and really the debut of SKINZ. I had a couple of my buddies, Max Helms and Ross Allard as guy models in the show.  Ross is far left and Max is far right. It was a very fun night. We have come a long way baby!

The Lycra Short

One of my favorite items in the SKINZ  apparel line
for men is the lycra shorts. I wear the M50 style. It’s a low rise short
with no front seam so it is very comfortable to wear. If you are a man you
will know what I mean. I wear them under my boardshorts while kite-boarding
and surfing. They keep my legs from chafing and provide me with some
security and compression for my more tender parts. Changing out of a wetsuit
in the parking lot is also easier since I am not naked once the rubber comes
off.  They are light and quick to dry.
