SKINZ has been making rash guards for men and women since it’s days as a supplier of lycra windsurfing shorts. If you are not familiar with what a rash guard is : Rash Guards were first developed by surfers to eliminate the chafing (caused by wetsuits) under the arms and around the neck. Coincidentally they do provide extra thermal warmth by reducing the flow of water inside the wetsuit (stabilizing warm water). The “Original” design is also used for use as an summer shield against the harmful effects of too much sun and abrasions from your surfboard. Reversed seams for smoothness and dolman sleeves for freedom of movement are components of a quality rash guard.
The use of nylon and lycra creates a garment that is lightweight, quick drying, flexible, durable, naturally antibacterial and water wicking. SKINZ produces several styles of rash guards. The original fits more loosely for above water watersports like windsurfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, wakeboarding and stand up paddle boarding. The slimmer and more snug fitting versions are for surfing, swimming, body surfing and diving. SKINZ is also making microfiber versions to wear as a base layer under snow boarding and skiing wear.
